Hi,
A friend of mine sent me the link below of the 2009 Joetown Rocks festival, where we are going this year. We leave in 17 weeks and can't wait. The clip from You Tube looks like fun. When Bobby starts singing "Take Good Care", I get such a happy feeling as it means so much to me. It was the 1st main song I heard by him, and that led to be being a true fan, and meeting you. Me and my family are so happy we know you!

Bobby Vee is one of the kindest human beings one can meet.
His music is amazingly awesome. Never heard a bad Bobby Vee song. But it's not just his music. Beyond that Bobby is one of the kindest, loving human beings one can meet.
I have tremendous amount of respect for him.
I met Bobby about 50 years ago, I shined his shoes in NY were he promised me an album. Recently I got a call from Bobby, and the next day I got my album. WOW 50 years later. Bobby keeps a promise. I could understand that he was young, and just making it to the top so it must of slipped his mind..but who cares I got my album.
Love you Bobby

Can you believe it is 51 years to the day that Bobby played his 1st paid gig? He has achieved so much, and my family are really honoured to know him. We are very proud of him, and he deserves all the best. On top of that, he has the most amazing family!!!
If you celebrate Valentines Day, hope you had a great day,

Subject: Seeing Bobby beginning of July
From: Ruth Johnson
Date: 2/7/2010 7:37 PM
Hi,
Just to let you know that The Johnson family are going to see Bobby at the Joetown Rocks festival on 3rd July! We got flights yesterday and booked accomodation and have a car rental. I still feel like a new driver (passed my test in October), so feeling a little nervous. Will need to learn to drive an automatic and drive on the other side of the road. Me and my dad can share the driving. My dad has driven for 40+ years, but never in America, or in an automatic. Should be a fun experience.
We fly from London Heathrow at 08:30 on Thurs 1st July, change at Toronto, and arrive at 15:53 at Minneapolis St Paul. Coming back, we fly from St Paul on Tuesday July 6th at 17:50, change at Toronto, and arrive back at Heathrow on Weds July 7th at 11:25. The about a 4-5 hour coach journey back to our home town. Can't wait, but still just over 20 weeks away.
Been an expensive month so far - this trip, and vets bills - both of my cats are ill at the minute. One has an over active thyroid and needs to take a tablet once a day for the next 3 weeks, and a tooth needs removing after her tablets. My other cat isn't eating, loss of energy, scared of going outside when she normally loves it and 1 or 2 other things. She goes to the vet on Monday :-(

Just to say it is wonderful to see dates have been added for Bobby's
schedule. Maybe England will appear on there sometime!!!! me and
my family Vee-I-Ps are considering Michegan and/or St Joseph. Would
be cool to see America on your Independence Day. We love fireworks
etc. I have friends who may be going to Michegan, and St Joseph
always sounds like a special time. Has anyone here been to the St
Joseph event, and what it was like and if it is just Bobby, or others
too. The problem is for us, is that when we fly to America, preferably,
we would like to see at least 2 Bobby concerts, especially as we
can only take so much time off work, and we don't know what other
venues will come up. When Bobby and The Original Stars did Branson,
that was perfect, and we love Branson. Wish they go back there one
day!! Also, the trips take a while to get there, and the airport
tax really bumps up the price. We would do this for Bobby though,
and I'm sure he knows that! After all, we just saw 1 show in Boston
in November as a fly-in visit, but we did have a few hours in new
York, a couple of days in Boston, and we met Jimmy Jay too. We came
mainly for my brothers 30th Birthday, and we had a great deal on
flights.
Hope you are all having a good 2010 so far,

Hutch and Paula,
Thank you so much for sharing your report on your Christmas concerts.
Sounded like it was so much fun (you always have fun when it comes
to Bobby though, right)? Great Christmas treats. It was so nice
of The Vees to fill in too when Bobby was sick - hope you are lots
better now Bobby!!!! You mentioned at one point The St Hubert's
Childrens Choir and The Johnson Family and friends (that could have
been us!). Saying that, there are a lot of Johnson's in the world!
I could imagine us being there and joining in, but hopefully this
year......
I really like reading about peoples experiences with Bobby concerts,
trips, stories etc,
Happy 2010,

From: Paula and Hutch

When I mention concerts with an S I do not mean it lightly. Hutch and I have had the most memorable month of Dec. this year. We have been fortunate enough to be able to see Bobby and The Vee's--5--times this month!! Unbelievable! What a Christmas present! It begin at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake,Ia on Dec.5th. It was Clear Lakes 15th Annual-Christmas By The Lake-and Bobby's "Up North December" concert put the topping on the tree. They did a superb job of blending the area choruses in along with their own Christmas numbers. The Surf Ballroom was full and the community definately left feeling the "Christmas Spirit". Good job troops! We visited a little with Bobby after the show. He was feeling "under the weather". Dec.6th we arrived in Dubuque,Ia. to find out that the concert had been cancelled as Bobby was sick----but they said The Vee's would be putting on a free concert that evening. What a really fine show! We had a blast!! The band was excellent. We danced. Ar J did the vocals and Jeff Olsen even got in the mood to sing. Fun! Fun! Great job fella's!!! Bobby's show was re-scheduled for Dec.18th. Soooo being the fans we are---off we went to Dubuque on Dec.18th. Once again the show was awsome--it was a tasteful mix of his hits from the 60's and a couple of Buddy Holly songs Tell Me How/Rave On and his own Christmas music. We love his Christmas CD. Bobby was feeling some better. Standing in line, after the show we met Renee Harris (winner of the Christmas Contest). Congratulations Renee!! We enjoyed our visit with you. Let us know when you'll be receiving your prizes! The next morning we loaded up and were off to Hopkins,Mn.to see Bobby and The Vee's at the Center for The Arts. You know----you just can't get enough of Bobby and his music---you leave each concert with a high on life!!! THANKS Bobby!!!!! The show that night was a real hit. A perfect blend of his musical magic and just in time for Christmas. The St.Hubert's Children's Choir and the Johnson Family and Friends added to the line-up. That evening we heard that they were going to be close the next week-end--so needless to say--where did we go on Dec.26th,but to Granite Falls,Mn. Of course, the weather here in Ia. and Mn. wasn't the best, but the show must go on. It was THE BEST!!! They had a dance floor and the fans made the best of it. Bobby seemed to be feeling much better. All and all, what a wind down for us!! Bobby you are a real "trooper"!! Thank you for all the GOOD MUSIC and for being the SPECIAL person you are!! This Christmas has been one for the books!!
Happy New Year to you and your family!! You're the BEST!!!

Subject: Report on The Yorkshire Vee-I-Ps trip to Massuchesettes to see Bobby
From: Ruth Johnson
Date: 12/27/2009 8:09 PM
Well, the Johnson family, England, have been on our travels again to America to see Bobby. This time, we went to Worcester, Massachusetts in November. The main reason we went, was because of my brother – Richard. He was celebrating his 30th Birthday on 5th November, and he fancies a surprise trip somewhere. We saw that Bobby was in The Original Stars Of American Bandstand in MA on 6th November, during our week off we already had off from work. This particular show is our favourite, and we had seen the show 6 times over 2 years in Branson, MO, at the wonderful Dick Clark’s Theatre. We really miss it, Branson and the people there. As well as the regular Original Stars, Barbara Lewis was going to be in the show too.
In all honesty, we didn’t really expect to go to Worcester, with it being so soon, and we thought it may have been a bit too expensive, especially for just 1 show. Then on 17th Sep, my mum found a wonderful deal on flights to Boston. The 3 of us spent the next couple of days discussing it (at times when my brother wasn’t around), and we decided to book it a few days after we saw the deal. It was so hard to keep it secret from my brother for about 6 weeks. The 4th November dawned, and we flew from Leeds/Bradford – Amsterdam – Boston. At Amsterdam, my brother thought we were going there, which we found amusing and then we boarded the Boston plane, so he knew we were going over “The Pond”, but he didn’t know about Bobby.
We landed at Boston at 15:30, which was about 30 mins early. The next day, was another surprise for my brother – we went to New York by a Peter Pan bus. We only had about 6 hours there so we just tried to see as much as possible – we had a fun time there.
The next day – was THE DAY WE WERE SEEING BOBBY!! In the morning, we went to the theatre to collect our tickets, and that is when my brother realised why we had gone there – he was really, really pleased! We spent the rest of the day just around Worcester, until it got to about 5pm so we could get ready. Our seats were about 14 rows back, so we had let Bobby know we were coming beforehand, and we told him to look out for the lights. We had glow sticks and changing colour balls, and we left the hotel about 18:00 to head for the theatre. We were so excited, as I’m sure any of you would be! We had a look round the stage door, and who should be one of the people to show up – only Bobby! We were lucky to get a little chat to him, and the 1st thing he said to me was that I am such a good driver (I had let him know before we came, that I had passed my driving test just over 1 week before – 28th Oct). It was my second attempt.
The show started at 8, and it begun by America’s top DJ (recent vote) – Jimmy Jay, being MC and gave a great opening to the night. We had gotten to know Jimmy a little on the cruise last Jan, and then in Iowa for the 50 Winters Later festival. He is wonderful!
Fabian opened up the show, being backed by the wonderful Vees (they backed the acts all night.), followed by Barbara Lewis, Fabian, Brian Hyland (Brian’s son – Bodi, took Jeff’s place on the drums), Fabian, The Chiffons, Fabian, and then the interval. They were all wonderful, and we still had the best to come! At 10pm, the show started up again. It was in darkness, and the story of Bobby Vee was shown on a screen. The video finished with “Keep A Knocking”, and singing the same song, was Bobby and he got a great welcome. He was wearing a white shirt, with black trousers and a black waist coat – he looked wonderful. He was chatting to the audience in between his songs. After “Keep A Knocking”, he did “Come Back When You Grow Up”, “Run To Him”, “Rubber Ball” (the audience had a lot of fun with flying beach balls!), and “Take Good Care Of My Baby”. After this song, he introduced his amazing band, and then he mentioned my family. He knew where we were because he saw all our colourful lights! He mentioned we have come especially from England for this 1 show, and he said Happy Birthday to Richard. He is always very thoughtful. The show continued led by Tommy singing “No Expectations”, then Chris Montez and Brian joined Bobby, and Chris sung “Your Mine” (with Bobby and Brian singing parts of “Donna”), then “La Bamba”. Ar J Stevens then led with “Chantilly Lace”, they all did “That’ll be The Day” and then “Peggy Sue”.
Bobby then had a break whilst Chris performed his songs. After this, Bobby came back on again, and sung “Devil Or Angel”, “The Night Has A Thousand Eyes”, More Than I Can Say”, “Duelling Banjo’s” and then finally “Little Queenie”.
After this, all the other stars came on and each did a bit of one of their songs. Bobby’s was “Take Good Care Of My Baby”. That is, and always be my favourite and special song. It is the song that started my following and friendship of Mr Vee, and that means so much to me. I have got wonderful friends as well due to following Bobby and his family.
The show was amazing, and we would love to see it again “Someday” – England, America, Canada – ANYWHERE!!! After the show, we were in our seats, and Jimmy Jay came over and we had a wonderful chat with him and his wife. They are an amazing couple and really great people. After this, we were able to see Bobby and have some photos taken. He is always great with his fans, and makes time for everyone, which is a couple of reasons why he is so popular. Thank you Bobby for a wonderful show, and for being so welcoming. We plan on seeing you somewhere in 2010, but we don’t know yet.
The last 2 days of our trip, we spend in Boston itself, and we really like the place, and would love to come back one day. There is so much to do.

For my birthday last year my father bought me the only copy of Bobby's vinyl record in israel and I was very very happy.when I looked at the album my life has changed: I'm no kidding but I had eating problems what you call anorexi and Bobby's songs were the only good thing in my life, and ever since I got this album I wanted to look just like Bobby with his hair and voice and smile,I knew that Bobby was in great shape and looked right without looking so thin and with anorexi problem and said that for my 23th birthday I will have the same smile like Bobby. Every morning I hear Bobby's records which I bought from all over the world and it makes me smile and gives me the steight to fight this problem!! So if you could say to Bobby thanks in my name, that his songs are one of my reasons for living !!! Everynight I dream that maybe someday my dreams will come true and I'll meet him or even talk with him even on computer, it'll be like I'm in teenage heaven, know that he knows who I am and how much I admire him and how much he helped me each day and makes me happy. I'm so glad to talk to you, please help me make my dream come true...

Dear Bobby and Fellow Artists,
My wife Dawn and I attended the December 5th Christmas concert at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. It
was the fourth Christmas concert for us as we have been at previous shows in Austin MN, and two in
St. Cloud, MN. We are always thrilled and taken back to the days of the best music ever by Bobby and
his troupe. Combining the childrens choir, Christmas music and a revue of the Bobby Vee specials
is a work of mastery, to be sure! Just wondering why Bobby didn't include "Electric Trains" or Small Town
America" in his show this last time around. Those are two of my favorites and I hear them often this
time of year on his "Up North December" Christmas CD. Great show, keep it coming and the best to
all of you!!
