Subject: Photos of the Yorkshire Vee-I-Ps and Bobby from Branson 2008

Hi friends,

I thought you guys would like to see some of our favourite photos from Branson this year as promised. The names go from left to right as I'm sure you will realise! If we say so ourselves, we think the photos are pretty nice. We think that Bobby looks very distinguished to say the least! Thank you Bobby for being on them, and next time we see you, we will ask you to sign them. Thank you as well for being involved in making a fantastic holiday even more special. Thanks for all you have done!! You are amazing! So thoughtful.

Also the 4 of us are going to America 3 more times in the next 10 months to see our Bobby!! We are going to Clovis, New Mexico from 3rd - 7th September, the cruise in January. We are then home for about 11 days, and then we are going to Iowa to The Surf Ballroom from 31st January - about 4th February! Busy time, and if we include Branson this year, an expensive 12 months, but so worth the money! We would rather spend our money on these trips than anything else. We are also huge tennis fans, but that has gone on the back burner for this year. None of us drink or go out too much, so we spend our money on what we love - Bobby, 60s concerts and travelling. The cruise is extra special for me (Ruth) as I am 26 on the last day of the cruise (17th January), so hoping to celebrate the night before!

Enjoy the photo's, and hope to see some of you on the trips we are doing,

Also the possibility of a DVD of Bobby and the Vees in concert in the future?

Thankyou.

Subject: The Yorkshire Vee-I-Ps trip to Branson, 2008
From: Ruth Johnson
Date: 5/3/2008 2:20 PM

Last year, The Yorkshire Vee-I-Ps went to Branson for just 3 days and saw 2 shows at Bandstand. We had an amazing time, and vowed to go back. We did, and we went this year from 20th March – 29th March which is 3 times as long as last year. It was great to spend more time there, do a lot of the attractions, and most importantly, see the 1st 4 shows of 2008 at Dick Clark’s Theatre! Branson is such a great place to visit. Everything we did went so smoothly, and all our flights were on time (Manchester, UK – Chicago – Springfield). We collected our show tickets on our 1st morning – seats right on the front row – excellent!!!

Over the 1st few days before the shows, we did lots of the local attractions. Our 3 favourites were The Branson Belle Showboat, the World’s biggest Titanic Museum, and “Ride The Ducks”. We also love being down at Branson Landing, and my dad and brother enjoyed The Dixie Stampede show.

Of course, the best part of the trip was seeing our Bobby and the others at Bandstand! For the opening night, we had made a big banner welcoming him and the fabulous Vees back to Branson. The show was really and truly AMAZING – an absolute dream and more. Over the 4 concerts, we were armed with a lot of ‘props’. As we didn’t know what songs Bobby would sing, we came prepared! We had angels halo’s, devils horns, the banner, soft toys as babies, mini model guitars, GB flags, blue/gold tinsel (I believe they are Bobby’s favourite colours), pom poms, a ‘farewell sign’ each, paper hats with printed musical notes, and glow sticks (each had a different colour). Bobby described the hats as crowns. We wore them one night, but not the following night, and Bobby made a comment about asking where the crowns were. We had no idea what he meant at first, then my mum realised he meant our hats! We wore them each night after that.

We really enjoyed joining in so much, and Bobby seemed to really like it too. He mentioned us from stage a few times about how we were there for a few days, that we’ve been great and how much we will be missed. That was a very special moment, and we really appreciate it. It just proves what an amazing guy he is (but we all know that of course!!). We also got to chat with him a fair bit, which was great. Everyone gave us a great trip, and made us feel completely at home, and we felt we received the VIP treatment the whole time. We also saw the 2pm show starring The Comets, Dave Somerville of The Diamonds, and McKenna Medley. Absolutely amazing!

Normally, I would mention the songs Bobby sung, but I am worried of maybe spoiling it for some of you guys if you are going this year and would like it to be a surprise. If anyone here would like to know the songs, you are more than welcome to E-Mail me on ruth_greg@hotmail.com, (in case unclear, there is an underscore between ruth and greg) and I will gladly let you know.

We are aiming to go to Bandstand at least once a year if possible. You should all try and get there! It is soooo worth it, and you’ll love every minute of it!!

Photo’s to follow during this weekend.

Thank you Bobby for making it a very special trip, and to all involved!

I really enjoy reading all about trips UK fans make to US to see Bobby perform and would love to follow suit! .... but what to choose?!

The cruise sounds fantastic - but wonder how many times we would see Bobby perform in a week?

... Branson sounds fun too .... and well the Surf Ballroom sounds just amazing (but cold)!

Was wondering if anyone has any tips/good travel agent/hotel or itinerary recommendations which could help us make up our minds? Are you able to publish my e-mail address or pass on please?

SO hope to see UK dates being published!

Thanks in anticipation

Subject: Don't Bother Knockin...
From: Deb
Date: 4/26/2008 8:24 PM

Greetings...
If memory serves me, (no cheap shots about my memory...lol)..Don't Bother Knockin, if the House is a Rockin, is the opening song of the Amercian Bandstand Show, starring Fabian, Brian Hyland, The Chiffons and Bobby Vee.  At least, for the road show.it was as Fabian and the Vee Band do a rocking rendition, as I had the pleasure to see on April 11 & 12 as they rode into town. Great show BTW, if I didn't mention it..!

Little did I know, we'd still be "rockin" a week later when Evansville felt the "earth move" as a 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck the area. Epi-center was 36 miles up the road in Illinois.  It hit around 4:30am..that's AM mind you...so if I thought I was still swaying to the Vee music, the rattling of the windows and shaking of everything else which wasn't tied down soon proved otherwise.  It was the talk of morning chatter at work for no one seemed to have gotten back to sleep including yours truly.

The quake was later downsized to a 5.2 but living so close to a fault line, anything generally over a 4.0 and possibly a 3.0 can be felt. In fact, this was the strongest quake we've had in 40 years. In spite of the gray in my hair and admitting to "only being 26", I do remember the 1968 quake quite well.  Scared the living daylights out of me then too!  After being in the tail end of what was later called a tornado in my youth and the few quakes we've encountered, at least with a tornado, some sort of storm generally brews first, with earthquakes ...no fore warning!

In the week, since the 5.2 hit, we had apox. 27 quakes which rocked and rolled the area...with at three (3) being over the 4.0 magnitude and as much as a 4.6 according the U.S. Geological Survey earthquake site, which has now become my new best friend.  LOL   Although, we didn't have to read it as we certianly felt them too. And they say we could still have more for a few weeks. Whew!!

Good News, at least in my neck of the woods, no serious damage unless you count those with restless nights and shaky nerves. Sadly, some structual damage at the epi-center.

So moral of the story...if your house is a rockin and you haven't just seen a fabulous rockin show by that Vee fellow...you might be rockin and rollin to one of the wonders of our great land...a quake.  As they say..duck and
cover!

And how was YOUR week!!  :))
Deb

P.S.  Oh and yes, shameless plug here too..our NEW CD is ready to sell millons..perferably dollars.  LOL  It's called "What's The Reason?" and for those who have been wondering (ok..so as Fabian said in the show.. the greeter at Wal-mart ..funny line btw) yes, yours truly can be heard. So check it out at ... www.thevigilantes.com  or  www.cdbaby.comGreat Lyrics...even if you don't like our type of music!  Let me know what you think!  Just write it on the back of a 100 dollar bill though or if you want to hear us on the radio...Just write them and tell 'em. LOL

There is something about Bobbie Vee's voice that touches every womans heart when he sings. He sings from the heart with rich romantic tones and he heals the heart of every woman when he sings such a voice that heals. I know I will always love this man dearly he always touches my heart when I hear that voice of his. He must have had his pick of any female he desired all over the world. He's a doll.

Judy,

At this point, the answer is "I don't know." Initially, the CD will only be available through TV sales in the UK. However, I can't imagine that at some point it will not be available through the Internet and hopefully our website. Please check back often and I will provide the information just as quickly as it becomes available to me.

Hi guys,

Well, we are back safely from Branson. All the flights were perfect and no delays or problems at all. Have been home a few days now, but all been tired! I will be doing a full report on Mr Vee's concerts, which I will post on here when I can. At the moment, we can't scan or print on our computer at the moment, so there will be a little delay on photo's. All I can say now is WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! We had such a brilliant time, with so many thanks going to Bobby! He was truly amazing - such a top guy, but I guess all here know that! Did anyone here go for any of the 1st 4 days last week? I love hearing all about trips. We would love to go once a year for as long as Bobby is there for. It is such a great concert, and with the other performers as well.

All for now as back to work Thursday t01. My dad and brother went back on Monday.

Thanks Bobby for helping to make the trip so special!

It was very sad to hear about Jackson Armstrong.  I met him at a wwkb party in Buffalo and spoke with him a couple times on the telephone when he was with wwkb . He was a nice man.  I could not get over how fast he could talk, although when he spoke in person , he was considerate and slowed his talking down quite a bit.

Subject: Vee-I-P's heading to Branson!
From: Ruth Johnson
Date: 3/17/2008 8:32 PM

Hi there.

The Yorkshire Vee-I-P's are sooo excited!! We fly to Branson this Thursday 20th, and we have front row seats for the 1st 4 nights of the Original Stars. Last year we went for about 3 days - this time we are going for 8 full days, and 2 part days! I will be putting a report and pictures together afterwards about our trip. We land back in England on Sunday 30th March in the morning, and then we are seeing another 60s concert the same evening - The Solid Silver 60s Show starring Gerry and the Pacemakers, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch, The Swinging Blue Jeans and Dave Berry. Going to be a busy day, and I guess we will be a little tired after the long flight.

Anyway, gotta go, and if anyone here is coming to Bandstand next week, look out for the 4 of us. You won't miss us as we have one or 2 surprises in store for Bobby's part in the show!!! That is all I'll say!

Subject: Grills Gates & Railings/Nothin' Like A Sunny Day
From: love oneanother [confusedwhyamihere@hotmail.com]
Date: 3/1/2008

Hi!
I thought I'd let you know I bought "Last Of The Great Rhythm Guitar Players" from HMV and "Grills/Sunny Day" from an Amazon seller. They both arrived yesterday and are the first Bobby Vee records I've ever owned, although I used to like him and his hits in the 60's and saw him on several package tours in the 90's.

All 3 albums are good, although it took me 2 plays  to appreciate "Rhythm " (I do that sometimes - on first hearing, I'm listening to each note as it plays and thinking "Hmmm, I dunno" then, the second time, I think "It's wonderful. What was I thinking of before?"

As soon as the first track of "Grills" began, I loved this album - yes, even "Lavender Kite", especially when Bobby and the liner-note writer weren't enamoured of the track, I thought "hey, don't be so hard on the poor little fella". When "Sunny Day" begins, I can't believe that it's  Bobby Vee singing, his voice sounds different, he's far more recognisable on "Rhythm" and "Grills". He must have been drinking lots of milk - that's how Mink De Ville sung low on "Cadillac Walk", anyway!

Anyway, I just thought I'd tell you how much I liked the albums. I hope whoever's in charge of the Branson Escape Committee, be it Bobby or Chris or Brian or The Chiffons, will tunnel out of there soon and come back and please their many fans in London, England!

Regards

Subject: My interview with Bobby
From: Ronnie Allen
Date: 2/26/2008 4:23 PM

I just want to say that I am delighted that I still receive many emails from listeners all over the world about the one-hour interview show that I did with Bobby last November for the Jersey Girls Sing! website and for Philadelphia-area radio station WNJC-1360 AM.

My website statistics tell me that hundreds of people have listened to it thus far and the number may actually be in the thousands, since many people save my shows and then email them to their friends who then share them with others. Those who listen to the interviews in that manner are not recorded as being "website hits" and therefore are not included in website statistics.

The interview is up permanently and those interested can access it by visiting the "News" page on this website.

I would also like to mention that it was the late Dale Houston, along with his sister Judy, who first put me in touch with Bobby back in 2002, when I did an incredible three-hour live show with Bobby on my friend Mike Mikels' M-PAK Internet radio station. I also did a two-hour show with Dale and Grace. I was so very sorry to read about Dale's passing a few months ago.

Bobby has always been one of my rock and roll heroes and, having been fortunate enough to touch base with him on several occasions, I can tell you he is much more than just that.

I wish Bobby many more years of health, happiness and success and I extend similar wishes to all of his wonderful fans in the US and around the world.

Ronnie Allen

Hi!

There's a Bobby Vee cd which is not included in your list. It's made up of 2 albums called Grills Gates & Railings and Nothin' Like A Sunny Day, made a few years after the big hits of the early 60's.
Does Mr Vee shun these albums? Are they actually by him or by his evil twin? Good Bobby is usually photographed as a clean-cut, clean-shaven happy fellow but the man on the aforementioned album covers is a bewhiskered solemn brooding type, so he must be baaaad, mustn't he??

I have seen Bobby Vee several times in London and he's always given great performances. I hope he'll be back again soon in the UK.

If I could only go back and tell little Gloria that 50 years from then I would be booking my first cruise and Bobby Vee would be doing a show on that cruise, I think she would have said, "No way, it's impossable...but, you know how I love the impossible, let's go for it".

But then, my life has been filled with impossible dreams that have come true, so why not this.

For me it will be as exciting to meet other fans and hear their stories.  I hope that you Vee-I -P's have a great time in Branson,  Tell me all about it in Jan.   And bring pics.  I am thinking of bringing my scrapbook of Bobby Vee that I have had since I was that little girl.
